Some sublime attacking led to an exciting display from Swifts, justifiably earning their first win of the season on Tuesday evening.

Only two minutes had passed when Swifts skipper Ben Lewis fed Simon Parker, and his trickery opened the way for Adam Gillespie to ram the ball home from 15 yards.

Seven minutes later, a bullet header from Lewis saw Swifts increase their advantage.

Walton & Hersham struck back to score before Lewis was booked. but then Gillespie struck again, a stunning 30 yard strike restoring Swifts two goal advantage at half time.

Terry Warwick replaced Wayne Adcock for the second half, and his pace and enthusiasm saw him into the action immediately.

On 75 minutes Dave Streetly found Parker who converted a clinical finish for Swifts to lead 4-1.

Parker had suffered all night with some fierce tackling, and then was the victim of an elbow, which led to Walton's Dowling being sent off on 85 minutes.

A fitting finale to the game then saw Mitchell Springett score his 100th goal for the club on his 300th appearance, a triumph for this personable and popular player, still full of enthusiasm at 35 years of age.
