Kids Choir 2000, the Hockley-based pop and rock group, are returning to the New Empire Theatre with other youngsters in mind.

On April 8 the group, which is made up from children from all over south Essex, will be performing a night of entertainment to support the Little Dragons' Music Therapy Group.

Little Dragons is run by parents of disabled children who have found that music can break down barriers between the affected children and their carers.

Gill Titford who runs Kids Choir 2000 with her husband Les said: "Through music barriers can be broken down, tensions relaxed and confidence and self-esteem built.

"Music therapy can encourage children to communicate, either verbally or through sign language and build a relationship with their therapist."

Gill said: "When the Little Dragons group contacted us we were impressed by their determination and effort, running a group like that while being busy mums," and Les added: "We are delighted to help, especially as this is the Chinese year of the dragon. Hopefully this will be the year that Kids Choir 2000 can give their funds a big boost."

Kids Choir 2000 have also performed to the young patients in Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The group, which was started four years ago, rehearse at Westerings School, Hockley every Friday. They are always on the look-out for other youngsters who enjoy singing or playing to join them. Anyone interested can contact Gill on 01268 514989.
