Tiptree chalked up another fine win to open up a five point gap at the top of Jewson division one.

Starting the game in determined mood the Jam-makers opened their account within the first five minutes when David Barefield prodded home from close range.

The home side poured on the pressure and were only thwarted by an off-side decision after Barefield had the ball in the Chatteris net but the leaders then had to wait until just before the interval for their second goal.

Player/manager Steve Parnell finished off a fine three man move to go into the break two goals to the good.

The second period was similar to the first with the Jam-makers keeping Chatteris pegged back into their own half for most of the time.

They finished things off from a corner when Wayne Houghton headed down for Stuart Jarvis to crash home their third for a convincing victory.

Delighted manager Parnell said: "The league title is totally in our own hands. We have come through our sticky patch which corresponded with a few injuries to key players and we now have a bit of a cushion over those clubs chasing us.

"Next week's trip to Whitton is a very big game. They have already beaten us so will be looking for a league double, we will have to be at our best to get a result."

Tomorrow night Maldon are the visitors in a Tolleshunt D'Arcy Trophy tie.
