Bosses at car giant Essex Ford today (Thursday) revealed they were in delicate talks over their delayed multi-million pound development in Basildon.
Ford last year announced plans for a multi-million pound showroom on a slice of land behind the Festival Leisure Park, next to the A127.
However, these were thrown into doubt when car manufacturer Visteon bought much of the site for its new south-east headquarters.
Philip Maskell, Essex Ford chairman and managing director, said: "We are at a delicate stage of negotiations with English Partnerships which owns the land.
"We are still planning to go ahead with the original six-and-a-half acre site. It is all very much in close negotiations at this moment in terms of coming to a conclusion."
