A woman died after the car she was in was involved in a crash today.
At midnight, emergency services were called to the Brightlingsea Road north of Wivenhoe. Two cars, one of which had rolled, were involved in a collision.
Ambulances from Frinton, Harwich and Weeley went to the scene, along with a rapid response vehicle and a doctor from Colchester. A 38-year-old woman travelling in one of the cars, a Chrysler PT Cruiser, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews helped get a man and a six-month-old baby, believed to be the woman's partner and child, from the car. The woman was from Cobham in Surrey.
They were both taken to Colchester General Hospital and treated for head injuries, according to police.
A 19-year-old man from Frating in the other vehicle, a Renault 19, had neck pain following the collision and was also taken to Colchester General Hospital.
