Hospital Radio Colchester's family fun day had plenty to keep the huge numbers of people in Lower Castle Park entertained.

Attractions which drew about 8,000 people to the park included a dog agility display, Wild West shoot-outs, majorettes and Egypitian dancers.

Music throughout the event was provided by Steve Cherelle, Cardy and Coke and the Brothers Blue.

More than £3,000 - nearly half the £7,000 needed annually to keep a hospital radio station on the air - was collected at the 27th annual event.

Hospital Radio secretary Andy Patrick said: "We had a really good day. The weather was great and everyone enjoyed themselves."
