Whilst Brentwood Trampoline Club's grade 1 competitors are in the final straight for the National finals in July, their grade 2 competitors are just halfway through their season. All though, are making great strides towards their targets.

In the past month Hannah and James Davies have competed in the Scottish and Welsh Grade 1 competitions where their main focus was to ensure that they continued to improve on their early season performances.

At Perth they both did more than this as Hannah Davies stormed away to win the ladies' competition easily qualifying to National finals by more than three marks.

Meanwhle, James Davies in the under-15, missed out on first place by only a small margin to end in second place.

Moving to Cardiff there was another stunning victory by Hannah in the under-18 competition winning with an overall score of 99.1 (one of the highest of the season in this age group).

James fared less well, however, after dubious deductions for instability, he finished in fifth place having been in second after the set round.

With just two more competitions before the finals they are both well on track.

In the recent grade 2 competition at Grantham, Lincolnshire, both Stephen Page and Laura Studd made good progress.

Competing in the under-13 boys' event this was Stephen's second attempt to qualify for Grade 1 and Grade 2 National finals having already successfully validated for grade 1 in Southend.

This time he succeeded, qualifying by nearly two clear marks although, having pulled up from seventh to fifth place entering the final, he made a mistake in the final falling back to 10th overall.

Laura was less fortunate although she still had plenty to take away from the day.

With more than 50 competing in the under-13 girls' event Laura started off respectably in 23rd position, but fell just 0.5 short of qualifying as a piked somersault was adjudged to be straight thereby costing 0.6 on her tariff for a repeated move.
