A bid for a new Indian takeaway in Braintree looks likely not to be to a council's taste.

A planning application, which was re-submitted by Curry Palace for an Indian takeaway in Challis Lane, Braintree, will be discussed tonight.

Planning officers have recommended that permission is refused because it is thought the change of use from a retail unit to a restaurant is contrary to policy.

The local plan seeks to encourage local shopping facilities.

Recommendations say the takeaway could cause an unacceptable degree of noise from the proposed fan system, odour from cooking smells and the application contained inadequate provision for waste disposal.
