Drivers on mobile phones - your time is up.
Essex Police today warned motorists in Tendring that the softly-softly approach to people using mobiles while behind the wheel is at an end.
Traffic police covering the area are launching a month-long crackdown on people who risk lives by using phones while driving.
Last year, police were given new powers to fine drivers caught using hand-held phones in cars.
Insp Steve Brewer, of the Stanway road police unit, said: "While we have seen a dramatic reduction in the use of the hand-held mobile phone since the introduction of the legislation six months ago, there are still a number of individuals who continue to drive and chat on the mobile.
"Drivers can expect to be issued with a non-endorsable fixed penalty notice that carries a fine of £30."
He warned: "If appropriate, some drivers may be reported and have to attend court."
