The historic Redoubt Fort played host to one of the top events on the Harwich calendar.
About 3,000 people took advantage of the hot weather and flocked to the annual Redoubt Fete, yesterday.
The event, which is now in its 35th year, was a hit with young and old. and organisers said they were pleased with the way it went.
This year, they opened the gates half an hour early so people had longer to enjoy at the fort.
Andy Rutter, secretary of the Harwich Society, said: "It went very well. We had a huge crowd and the weather was on our side when you consider the forecast.
"A lot of people asked how we managed it."
He said they had raised about £4,000 from the event, which had 100 volunteers working to make it run smoothly.
The money will go towards the ongoing restoration of the fort, which dates back to the Napoleonic period.
