A yachting fraternity has been doing its bit to help a local group that exists to help others.
Brightlingsea’s Community First Responders and their opposite numbers at West Mersea were among the first teams in the country to offer a volunteer on-the-spot emergency aid service.
In recognition of their contribution, Colne Yacht Club commodore Tom Sargeant presented £680 - the proceeds of a summer ball raffle and auction - to CFR representatives George Coppin, Sarah Farrell and John Eaton.
The nine-strong group are seeking more members, who are all trained by the East of England Ambulance Service to give immediate help following a 999 call.
Volunteer David Hunter said: “We are covering a lot of the week, but not all of it. We could do with a good half a dozen more volunteers at least.”
