A SOLUTION may have been found to the on-going dispute over Lexden's controversial phone mast.
Residents were furious after phone company O2 was allowed to put up a mast at the junction of Lexden Road and Norman Way because Colchester Council had not made a decision in time.
Now a new site has been found which might please all parties.
O2 has insisted it needed to improve its mobile phone reception in the Lexden area. But it agreed to consider other sites if they were found to be technically suitable.
Now following investigations and discussions between the phone company and the council, a new location has been found.
The new mast is set to be sited on Hilly Fields - away from homes and schools.
