THE way in which social care is offered to adults across Essex is to be changed so they have more freedom and choice.
Following a major consultation of people – including those currently using adult social care services, their representatives and those who provide the care – the county council has decided to push ahead with the changes.
It means they will have more control over the kind of support they receive and will see personal budgets introduced later this year.
At first, this will be for all eligible people who have been newly-referred for ongoing adult social care support.
The self-directed support scheme will then be gradually phased-in over the next three years starting from September.
