A renowned TV personality is set to perform at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.

Laura Wright will be taking to the stage this summer for the Open Road charity.

Known as one of the country’s top-selling classical artists, the former Young Chorister of the Year will wow crowds for 'One Night Only' on Wednesday, July 24.

With a rich medley of songs from hit West End musicals and a few special guests, the show is being staged to benefit Open Road, a charity committed to supporting individuals and families struggling with addiction.

Tim Young, media, communications and partnerships manager at the charity, said: "We’re absolutely delighted Laura Wright has agreed to produce a gala show at the Mercury Theatre on our behalf.

"When I approached Laura she could not have been more accommodating and enthusiastic because she realises that the work we do transforms lives.

"We are so grateful to the Mercury for letting us borrow their magnificent venue for free and we are sure that the evening will generate a large audience which will help us to give support and assistance to many more vulnerable people and their families in the future. "

The night's agenda includes captivating performances, entertainment for all age groups, and insight into the work of Open Road.

Tickets can be purchased from the Mercury Box Office.
