A UNIQUE place that reminds me of summertimes with my family has opened its doors in Colchester - and it's much better than McDonald's and KFC.

Food Sooo Good, in Hythe Hill, was opened just a few weeks ago by Justyna and her son, Andi, who have worked in the restaurant business for many years.

Shortly after launching their new venture, they were even able to charm the Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester, who very much approved of the café upon visiting.

Following such good recommendations and history in culinary, I could not wait to check out what they had in store.

At first glance, the café seems ordinary - there is nothing that particularly sticks out. But with time and careful observation, it soon started to remind me of the upcoming summertime.

I'm unsure if the decorations are seasonal, but with colourful pillows on seats and window sills covered in grass and outdoor decor, the place made me recollect barbeques with family and friends under sunny weather.

Although most foods I have picked were spicy, the restaurant offers a range of milder dishes too, which will suit anyone who wishes to visit.

For just £8, I was able to snatch five delicious-smelling chicken strips. The restaurant is known for its chicken and I did get charmed by the secret ingredients that made the usually bland food taste divine.

Not only that, the food came on a beautiful bamboo tray with creative packaging, which I loved, and the Chipotle sauce elevated the spiciness.

Due to the owner's recommendation, I picked a spicy chicken burger which is reasonably priced at £7.90.

The presentation also blew me away, as the bun and slightly sticking out vegetables and cheese made the dish look really appetising.

And it tasted just as good as it looked - with each bite, you could taste the fresh used vegetables and crunchy lettuce.

Although the restaurant serves dishes which are present at every fast-food place around the county, I will never turn to McDonald's or KFC ever again after trying Food Sooo Good.

Even though it does not look show-stopping, the last meal I had, a spicy chicken wrap and sweet potato fries, absolutely captured my taste buds.

Once again, the wrap for £7.50 was filled with delicious chicken and fresh vegetables, but this time the meal also came with golden-fried sweet potato fries.

Despite the wrap being the main part of this dish, the fries stole the spotlight.

Throughout my time at the restaurant, the owner kept asking if anything else was needed and made my stay there as comfortable as possible.

The final bill came to about £30 but the portion sizes were extremely generous.

Personally, I was not able to finish the dishes mentioned due to them being very filling.

In my opinion, the restaurant is good value and provides a spot in Colchester where residents can have delicious comfort dishes.

I am quite excited to visit them again.
