ARE we a nation of terrible parkers?

Less than one per cent of all parking tickets handed out to drivers across the country are appealed according to The British Parking Association.

The driving organisation has released a quiz aimed at seeing what type of parker you are.

Drivers of all ages can find out what type of parker they are - and who is better at parking among family, friends and work colleagues.

Perhaps you like to take your time and park neatly in the middle of a space or as quickly as possible risking your wheels over the line. Parking may be simple because you use the latest apps to book ahead. Or you prefer to drive to your usual place where you know you will find a space.

“We wanted a fun game that would appeal to all age groups,” said BPA Director of Policy & Public Affairs, Kelvin Reynolds.

“Parking can raise negative emotions, but we hope this light-hearted game induces a sage nod of recognition with some of its questions. On the serious side, drivers have told us through independent research that they prefer safer car parks and as there are 5,000 across the UK we need to tell drivers how to find them.”

The quiz was created to raise awareness of Park Mark - the Safer Parking Scheme. Train stations, hospitals, universities, town centres, shopping centres, leisure centres, airports, supermarkets, banks and office blocks all have Park Mark accredited spaces which are tested for safety and levels of crime.
