GREEN-FINGERED residents are being asked to help transform Riverside walk in Colchester.

Colchester in Bloom has organised the clean-up, which will also including planting of flowers, and will take place on Thursday at 10.30am.

People are asked to meet at the cricket pitch car park near Castle Park.

Those taking part are asked to bring plants suitable for winter and they will be placed beside benches along the riverside and to add to plants in the boat displays in the park.

Equipment has been provided by Keep Britain Tidy and Rivercare.

People are advised to wear strong footwear.

The works along Riverside come as those involved in this year’s Colchester in Bloom patiently await the results of the competition.

Judging took place on July 15 and 16 led by lead judge Robin Carsberg and results are due to be announced on September 23.

Judges for Anglia in Bloom and Britain in Bloom also visited the town in the summer with results due on September 17 and October 16 respectively
