A SINGER songwriter is celebrating after lyrics she wrote made it through to the semifinals of a national competition.
Daisy Day, 21, has had seven of her songs put through to the next round of the UK Songwriting Contest.
Daisy, of Abberton, has been writing her own songs since she was a child.
She said: “I love songwriting.
For someone to recognise something I love to do and say I’m good at it is an amazing feeling.
“It boosted my confidence a lot.”
The songs are in the competition’s pop and singer songwriter categories, and are a mix of love songs and tunes about life.
She said: “I write about personal experiences.
“I’m feeling positive but I take into account it’s a worldwide competition.
“There are so many talented song writers out there.
“I’m hoping that one of mine has what it takes.”
If she gets through to the next round, she will be in with a chance of winning a selection of prizes including a session with top producer Stuart Epps, who has worked with Elton John and Oasis.
