RIDING high following the success of their debut single, Clacton indie rockers Surge are back performing in Colchester.
After appearing on Facebook a couple of months ago, single Tears of Joy has picked up more than 5,000 fans and is being played all over Europe on radio stations in Holland and Germany.
Surge is made up of George Henry King and Alan Jones on guitar and vocals, Billy Fenton on drums and bassist David Smyth.
This Friday the band play the V Bar’s regular Leisure music night, which is run by the guys from Best Days Vintage shop in Eld Lane, Colchester.
As well as Surge another local band worth looking out, the Castro’s, will also be on the bill along with Leisure’s resident DJs playing indie and alternative anthems before, in between and after the bands.
New this month will be what organisers are hoping will be a regular addition to the Leisure nights with DJs playing the more dance side of indie from re-mixes to mash ups. They’re calling it Death From Above.
Entry is free and the music goes on until 2am.
