Special Constables helped save a man's life at the roadside in Halstead last night.
SC Simon Culling and SC Harry Chandler were driving on patrol earlier when they spotted a car pulled over with an unconscious passenger with his head back and eyes closed.
The officers immediately turned their car around to assist and once on scene found the man in the car wasn't breathing.
In the car was his distressed wife and family.
Culling and Chandler immediately phoned the ambulance but whilst waiting for help to arrive they pulled the man out onto the pavement to put him into the recovery position.
Essex Air Ambulance arrived shortly after and paramedics assisted.
The man was worked on until he regained consciousness.
SC Culling said: "We were at the right place at the right time. We responded as any other officer would do.
“We left the man in the ambulance sitting up, fully conscious, and we are just glad we were able to help.
“We hope he makes a full recovery".
