Dozens of pupils were delighted when a librarian popped into their school for a visit.
Teenagers in years 7 and 8 at St Mary’s School for Girls, in Colchester, heard from Marilyn Brocklehurst about her life among the bookshelves.
She was also the honourary judge in a competition to find the best speaker in both year groups.
The children had to read aloud a paragraph from a book, with Jade North winning in Year 7 and Keziah Kenneison the Year 8 winner.
