A MASSIVE £50,000 has been handed over to a Colchester charity.

Colchester Colne Round Table shattered all previous fundraising records by with its efforts for the head injury charity Essex Headway.

Much of the cash was raised by runners in Colchester Half Marathon on Sunday, March 29.Hundreds of runners pounded the streets, with crowds throwing money into buckets to add to the runners’ sponsorship.

Round Table chairman Matt Eaton said: “We are delighted to present Essex Headway with a large sum of money.

“It does valuable work in our community and its dedicated team of staff and volunteers really does change lives. This is the biggest donation in our Round Table history. Thank you to all my colleagues for supporting me in such a successful year.

“The group is 50 years- old this year and it seems so appropriate that we have raised this amount for a local charity.”
