A TEENAGER has been disqualified from driving after being caught almost three times the legal limit sleeping in his car following an England football match.

Dozey Stephen Fenn, 19, of Broome Grove, Wivenhoe, an administrator at Essex University, went to Colchester for a night with friends to watch England v Lithuania in the European Championships qualifier.

After celebrating with a large quantity of vodka he decided to drive back home.

Wayne Ablett, prosecuting, said: “Police were called at 3.28am on March 28 to reports of a vehicle stopped in the road in Colchester Road, Wivenhoe.

“The engine was still running and Mr Fenn was found asleep in the rear of the vehicle.

“There was damage to the front off-side of the car.”

Fenn was breathalysed at 102 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35 microgrammes.

Mr Ablett said: “He tried to drive home but could not remember what route he took or how the damage was caused.”

Fenn was banned from driving for two years and given a community order with 60 hours unpaid work when he admitted drink driving at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
