CHILDREN tested out their basketball skills when a Paralympian paid them a visit.
Wendy Smith, Paralympic gold medallist in wheelchair basketball, dropped into Kings Ford Infant School, in Gloucester Avenue, Colchester, to teach them some skills.
The kids were able to practise their dribbling, shooting and passing skills.
The day was organised by staff as part of the school’s campaign to teach the children to be the best they can be.
Wendy, who was told she would neverwalk again after a motorbike accident, spent time telling her story to the children to inspire them.
But despite her spinal injuries, she has managed to learn to walk again with a stick.
Wendy won gold in wheelchair basketball at the Paralympic Games in Athens in 2004.
Staff and children thanked her for leading the workshop, signing autographs and telling them her story.
