DESPITE LOSING an hour’s sleep at the weekend, several Quakers were still up bright and early as they headed out all across the region.

The largest contingent of black and white was to be found at Hartlepool for the latest championship race, the Marina 5 Mile. Paul Dalton was first home for the club in 29:56 followed by Brian Martin (30:46), David Todd (32:06), Andrew Vernon (32:41), Louise Trainor (34:47), Graham Park (34:48), Phil Rutter (34:52), Richard Hughes (35:56), Diane Vaughan (36:05 and breaking the club record for her age category), Phill Hall (37:54), Peter Rowley (39:10), Danny Gordon (39:16), Jamie Burn (39:58), Sarah Watson (40:01), Neil Harrington (40:13), Jeff Marriott (40:53), Rebecca Bowes (41:24), Sue New (41:33, PB), Pamela Barrass (41:30, PB), Jes Smith (42:33), Julie Whinn (43:03), Alec Cinamon (44:11), John Whinn (44:40), Wendy Noble (45:13), Gill Colling (45:41), Michael Oliver (45:47), Kevin Simpson (45:58), Joanne Dewar (46:09), Fiona Dixon (46:35), Amy Crooks (48:54), Sally Singleton (49:12), Henry Prince (49:09) and Linda Harrington (1:01:13). The event also marked the end of this season’s North East Veterans series, with Brian Martin taking the gold for his age category and Louise Trainor a bronze for hers.

The final race in the Stockton Winter 5K series took place at Cowpen Bewley. Ewan Henderson completed the run in 22:43 along with Paul Roberts (23:22), Paula Roberts (31:25), Emily Beaumont (35:44) and Diane Adkins (37:28). Two Quakers also picked up prizes for their performances during the series. Louise Trainor finished as third female overall, while Danny Gordon took first place in his age category.

Meanwhile, a few runners headed further afield for some longer distance races. Up in Northumberland, Julie Remmer completed the Northumberland half marathon in Ponteland in 2:45:54.

Over in the Lake District, Ian Readman took part in the Buttermere 10 trail race. Taking in a route along Buttermere and around Crummock Water, he finished in 1:25:12.

Down in North Yorkshire, Nicola Howe, Sandra Cass and Diane Gardner did the Blubberhouses 25 mile event, the three of them finishing together in 7 hours 35 minutes.

The previous week had also seen the latest round of the Hardmoors series, on this occasion the 55 mile event. Taking in a route from Guisborough to Helmsley, Wendy Colling finished in 12:42:48 (and first in her age category), followed by Anthony Corbett (13:56:56), Emily Beaumont (13:58:34), Mark Colling (14:15:54) and Roy MacDougall (14:54:55).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Paul Dalton finished at South Park in 19:10 followed by Richard Coulson (19:51), Chris Minto (20:38), David Todd (21:32), Phil Clarke (21:47), Rob Gillham (22:26), Peter Rowley (23:20), Gavin Armstrong (24:09), Lindsey Lester (25:08), Emily Lester (25:08), Rebecca Bowes (25:19), Lyn Hatch (26:14), Olena Rusa (26:36), Paul Ryan (26:55), Andrew Vernon (27:08), Sarah Watson (27:09), Sarah Leach (27:22), Lewis Boshier (27:47), Lee Morris (27:50), Michelle Boshier (28:16), Andy Whittam (29:00), Michael King (32:48), Hazel Commane (33:17), Wendy Noble (34:05), Lorna Mcfarland (35:43), Gemma Marshall (35:44), Kristy Burkin (39:12) and Alec Cinamon (39:12).

Over at Sedgefield, Paul Roberts completed the run there in 22:18 along with Dave Thompson (23:18), Richard Payne (25:41), Mark Colling (28:08) and Jeff Marriott (28:09).

At Tees Barrage, Paul and Jeanette Appleton did the run there in 25:40 and 28:48 respectively, while Michael Joyeux ran at Albert Park in 17:26. Michelle Scruby completed the run at Hackworth in 31:55 while Anthony Corbett headed to Wetherby finishing there in 25:35.
