PARTICK THISTLE No. 2 Jimmy Bone has revealed the Jags are targeting two more new faces during the newly-opened transfer window.

Thistle gaffer Dick Campbell snapped up former Northern Ireland under-21 star Mark McChrystal last week.

But Bone says Campbell is keen to beef up the midfield and bring more firepower up front.

The Jags missed out on former Rangers and Dundee United man Derek McInnes, who opted for a four-month deal with St Johnstone rather than an 18-month move to Firhill. But Bone is adamant strengthening will take place.

He said: "We are keen to bring in a different type of midfield player to those we have already got at Firhill.

"We could maybe do with extra experience and what I'd say is the manager is talking to players every week in that respect.

"We also want to add a bit of variety up front and again that is something we want to address as soon as possible."

Bone believes he has already seen enough of new boy McChrystal, after training sessions, to reckon the 22-year-old will add an imposing presence to the Thistle rearguard.

Bone said: "Mark is very mobile and aggressive and what we have seen in training from him has been impressive.

"He certainly brings something to our defence we have been lacking."

But, while Bone admits it will be tough to make space in a happy dressing room for new faces, he has no doubt that will happen.

He said: "Sometimes your decisions are made for you. It could be that clubs come in for a player or two and it is the best thing for them to move on.

"But we will just have to see how that pans out with the window just opened a day or so."

Bone also reckons that Thistle - with 31 points on board - are making solid progress.

He said: "We need to tighten up a bit at the back. In management, you always want improvement in every area, but I don't think we are that far away."
