A PENSIONER aged in her 80s had to be treated by paramedics after burglars burst into her home.
Police were called to Ipswich Road, Colchester, at about 4.20pm on Monday.
The victim was so distressed she began having chest pains and heart palpitations.
Officers were so worried they called for an ambulance following the shock of the break-in.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “ Police were called with reports of a burglary.
“Officers attended along with the ambulance service.
“Enquiries into the burglary are continuing and it is unclear what has been stolen at this stage.”
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 5.40pm to a woman with chest pains.
“We sent an ambulance to the scene which arrived within four minutes.
“She was treated at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital”
A forensic team have also been to the property to search for clues.
