A YOUNG woman was stuck in deep mud for more than an hour at King Edward Quay, Colchester, in the early hours of this morning.
Residents heard the woman screaming at about 3am and called the emergency services.
The mud is believed to be at least four metres deep.
Firefighters and police officers worked with people who live nearby to free the woman using ropes and ladders.
She was in the mud for more than an hour.
Paramedics were also called to the scene.
