A CAR salesman has been ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work after taking items from part-exchange cars and selling them on eBay.
Graham Mays, 53, from Alan Way, Colchester, would collect cars which were included in deals at Lancaster Luxury Cars, in Ipswich, before taking items left in the vehicles by previous owners and selling them on the internet auction site.
The items included Bluetooth cradles and sat navs.
Ipswich Crown Court heard Mays, who no longer works at the dealership, made £5,276.12 selling the items over a two-year period, between August 1, 2012 and June 30, 2014.
Judge David Goodin sentenced Mays to a 12-month community order, which included 240 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £1,201, including £776 in compensation and £425 in court costs.
