Chelmsford City Racecourse has been given 58 fixtures for next year, with the first in January.

The racecourse, in Great Leighs, has not held a race since April 2008 and was bought in December by Great Leighs Estates, a collaboration between Betfred tycoon Fred Done and media partners SIS and Bet Solutions International.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) announced today that the the all-weather Chelmsford City Racecourse has been allocated 58 fixtures, 32 being in “twilight slots”, which are evening races.

The first will take place on Sunday, January 11.

Clerk of the course Andy Waitt said: “We are very excited to have been given these fixtures.

“It is nice to get some dates in the diary and get things firmed up ready for next year.”
