COLCHESTER’S Cowdray Avenue will be closed overnight for the next fortnight while the road is resurfaced.
The A133 will be shut between 8pm and 6am between the North Station Road and Ipswich Road roundabouts from Monday following a series of complaints about potholes.
Rodney Bass, councillor for highways, said: “These essential roadworks will return the surface of the road to its optimum condition - ensuring a smooth ride for vehicles and improving the long term condition of the road.
“By undertaking resurfacing, Essex County Council is less likely to have to repair smaller road problems like pot holes.”
Between 8pm and 6am, motorists will be diverted along Westway, up Balkerne Hill, down Southway and through the Hythe to St Andrews Avenue.
