COMMUNITY art group Slack Space continues to face an uncertain future because of money troubles.
The group, which rejuvenates empty buildings in Colchester town centre, has been hit by an unexpectedly high electricity bill.
It racked up the bill at its last home, Victoria Place, in Eld Lane.
It was initially been feared the group would not be able to afford to stay at its present home, in the Old Police Station, beyond last weekend.
But exhibitions have continued through this week and a performance by Quire, a world music community choir, is set to go ahead on Saturday.
Co-ordinator Chris Clarke said: “We are going to keep going until we have an agreement on what the way forward is.
“We hope to meet next week with our sponsors to see what can be done and what the case will be.”
He also thanked the public for its support, adding: “The number of groups which have contacted us because they are concerned at us closing has given me a really positive feeling that we are doing something good here.”
