THIS year’s Colchester Oyster Festival will kick off on Saturday.
The annual event, which this year has a medieval theme, takes place in Lower Castle Park and opens its doors at 10.30am.
Crowds will also be entertained by the Essex Dog Display Team during the day.
There will also be food, drink and craft stalls as well as plenty of Colchester Oysters on offer.
Don Quinn, of event organisers Snake in the Grass, said: “We are all set for a great day.
“The sun will be out and I’m sure everyone will enjoy themselves.”
The organisers have also concocted two special Colchester sausages for the festival.
Both have added spice as well as a hint of oyster.
Entry is £10 for adults, £5 for children and a family ticket is £22.
There will be free parking, off Catchpool Road, by the cricket ground.
