Fire service ban on wood being dumped

A PROHIBITION notice has been issued on a site where hundreds of tonnes of wood have been dumped.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service fears the wood, in Hawkins Road, Colchester, is going to be set alight and cause a dangerous blaze.

Firefighters have spent two weeks tackling a similar fire in Mountnessing, after 5,000 tonnes of wood were set alight. They still have two engines at the scene 24-hours a day.

It has prompted the fire service to serve a prohibition notice preventing any more wood being dumped.

The Environment Agency has also revoked permission to store material at the site.

Good work Gazette. This little lot will be ablaze within a week now that Colchester's 'twisted firestarters' know its precise location.

Gazette should do a report on how the builders are causing chaos with traffic in rush hour, due to having stupid traffic lights. Not silly stories like this because they cant fill the paper
