AWOMAN who is preparing to donate a kidney to her son has raised £2,375 for the hospital unit which is treating him – with a little help from her colleagues.
Having been given the all-clear from doctors this week, Donna Annand, 43, from Highwoods, Colchester, is set to for surgery in October to give one of her kidneys to her son Ryan.
Along with colleagues at Asda, in Colchester, Donna decided to take on a fundraiser in aid of Colchester Kidney Patients’ Association.
Store staff and other volunteers took it in turns to ride on static bikes in the store’s foyer, with the challenge of covering 2,200 miles to coincide with the Tour de France.
