An official report is warning traffic jams and tailbacks are inevitable when a new housing estate is built.

Persimmon Homes has submitted a formal application for 358 homes at Wyvern Farm, off London Road, Stanway.

The estate will include a combination of one to four-bedroom houses, including 72 affordable homes, and 704 parking spaces.

Sceptical residents voiced their concerns about potential traffic chaos at a recent public exhibition held by developers.

Now a full transport assessment has been carried out by Richard Jackson Engineering Consultants.

Hot air to me!
There didn't seem to be this much controversy around the O&H 700+ houses behind the Tollgate Centre. Maybe that deal was sweetened with a new bypass road!
Face it Stanway IS growing, more shops, restaurants, offices, so why not more houses? At least developers in Stanway are more pro-active than other developers in the Borough!

Crammed in little boxes with no gardens and roads too small to take large vehicles and, maybe, just able to pass two vehicles if no one parks on the road - oh but wait a minute, the North Essex Parking quango will come along and ban all parking on the estate!

Why is there no access to the roundabout shown to the right of the development?

…here we go again, build, build, build which will see another patch of green covered in concrete to the detriment of everybody already living in the area. It simply isn't sustainable to go on endlessly constructing housing and providing other services for an ever increasing population. Isn't it time the world started talking about what is an "optimum population size" and come up with policies to make it happen. Bite the bullet: there are too many people in the country!!!

Hot Air Suzy ? We did complain the council and the builders did not listen. 2 years of noise, dust, drilling you name it our houses the existing ones covered in dirt that the rain wont wash away. Not a bean in sight ! As for matey above On The Ball ! and the relief road bit ? They don't do relief roads, the relief road the that was supposed to be put in at Osprey Close in the original conception plans of Phase 2, was cancelled out and removed. They seem to want some type of single access in and out job, for some odd reason. The fire brigade and the parameds have a wail of a time weaving in and out and around about the houses. They don't listen you are wasting your time with the tea and sticky bun routine. Some of the consultation nights with the cheap suit, hairstyle and company car brigade, is quite productive bit it all falls on deaf ears at the end of the day. They do a little bit just to keep you quiet and pretend they are listening but at the end of the day, its all heel kicking and shoe shuffling around. They basically dont give a f*ck and who can blame them ? They have 95 Million reasons to just get with the job done and move on to the next plots. Its all sad really someone is going to have to get killed on that right or left turn out of Osprey Close, crashing into an oncoming vehicle on the new by pass, where the cars are driving way to fast, before anyone takes notice. You are worried about Traffic Fears on 358 Houses over there we are sh*tting ourselves over here, there is about 500 plus going up more !

Most sensible area for new houses for a long time.however the estate must have quick access to one of the round abouts to make it work well.

How can one traffic study state there will be problems at Stanway with it's nice access yet another study says there are no traffic issues around North Station to allow 1600 houses to be built?

Stanway is an ideal area to assist the expansion of Colchester with its access to A12 and Marks Tey station.

I cannot see the problem with this proposal
