Firstsite's new offering... a family living in the venue

First published in News

A FAMILY will live in Colchester’s Firstsite centre next week - all in the name of art.

Lawrence Bradby, partner Anna Townley and their three daughters will eat, sleep, wash, work and play at the £28 million centre’s learning studio from this Sunday until the following Saturday.

Generous Firstsite staff have donated two large tents and a series of futons and sleeping bags to call home, although they will have to trudge to the other side of the building to use its only shower.

Townley and Bradby, with their three daughters aged nine, six and two, will spend their days working around their temporary home and their evenings exploring the town.

For three hours each day, they will open the doors of the studio open to the public and hold a series of free summer holiday workshops for families with primary school age children.

See Friday's Gazette for more.

So are they going to pay rent for the most expensive temporary accommodation in Colchester?
Seriously are the people in charge of Firstsite lunatics or what?
I do object to my council tax being used to support the situation that brings ridicule on the citizens of Colchester.

How about an exhibit ,"Life On The Road" - a few caravans pitched up outside, sure there would be no problem getting participants.

Is this how they get a free holiday, had a week in a Lincolnshire windmill in 2010.

Is it April 1st? The firsts*ite fiasco sinks to a new low. I hope the Townleys paid for their free stay in Colchester, or did taxpayers pick up the bill for this as well. £30m and counting...

Perhaps the TV channels might consider running Big Brother from here. I vote Councillor Young as one of the participants and why not Will Quince. and the VAF fanatic Councillor Davidson.
