Mystery surrounds the suspension of a number of staff at a Braintree care home.

A member of staff was dismissed and up to six others were suspended from Larchwood Care Home, Broad Road, in July.

Owners HC-One Ltd have refused to give details of the incidents or offer reassurance to relatives of the elderly residents, many of them suffering with dementia.

A spokesman for health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) said: “CQC is working closely with Essex County Council regarding this and we are unable to comment any further at this stage.

Obviously irregularities have been found. Police or investigators will now be called in to see if there is anything serious to report or charge. You cannot have people being employed in this field, under suspicion or allegations against them.
