A MAN was punched in the face during a violent street-robbery in Clacton.

The 28-year-old was walking along Thoroughgood Road when he was attacked at 12.20am on Thursday.

He was approached from behind and had his rucksack pulled from his shoulder.

Det Con Lee Winfield, from Clacton CID, said he was also punched to the face.

“He fell to the floor suffering cuts and bruises to his face,” he said.

“The suspects then ran off.

"Unfortunately the victim was not able to get a good look at his attackers and we currently have no description.

“But I would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in this area or who has come across any of the distinctive stolen property.

“If anyone has been offered any of these items or finds them I would ask them to call me.”

The bag was a black McKenzie backpack with the letter M on the back.

It contained a pair of black, size eight, suede puma trainers, black skinny jeans, a blue polo shirt with a lighthouse motif and hair gel.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Det Con Winfield at Clacton Police Station on 101.
