How much did it cost to use this helicopter? How much were the items stolen worth? No wonder our police bills are so huge.

Well done to the cops for catching him. No doubt the courts will let him off with a slap on the wrist while the tax payers pick up the tab for the manpower and the chopper's fuel!

Cost is irrelevant a job well done by the police.

It will be a shame when the alleged offender is taken to court and will lay on some sob story and their punishment will not cover a fraction of the costs.

Interesting to read the alleged offender is not from Colchester yet again.

Couldn't agree more, cost is irrelevant as in the long term these idiots realise the state won't stand for law breaking which will reduce cost to the police.

Probably end up with a caution. So few people actually end up in court these days which results in a dumbing down of justice.

This is truly incredible!!!!! The only crime I can see here is on the police force's part!!!.........scra
mbling a chopper to a petty theft for which the goods are all insured by the company in question! I'm no expert but I believe it costs in the region of £2.5k merely to get the chopper off the ground and that's not to mention the ground units involved also!!! I saw this article hours ago but was so shocked I could hardly find the words!!! Absolute mayhem I think just about sums it up...........it would be nice to hear the theory behind this very educated decision!!! And I have no doubt were wasting a whole lot of tax payers money on paying the moron that actually made the decision! Criminal!!!!
