THE boyfriend of a teenager who died of an asthma attack is due to attend their school prom tomorrow in her memory.
Stanway School pupil Shannon Smith died, aged 15, in March 2013.
Her classmates are now in Year 11 and have just completed their GCSE exams, with the prom planned as their sendoff.
Her boyfriend Ben Chater, 16, of Shrub End, will be driven to the prom, at the school, in a red 1966 MGB Roadster and in the colours the couple planned to wear to the event.
Ben said: “Shannon and I had talked about the prom so many times before.
“Shannon had said she wanted to wear a beautiful red dress, so our colour scheme was red and grey – Shannon in her red dress and me in a grey suit, with matching red tie.
“I made a promise to Shannon I would still wear the red tie to our prom in her memory."
