HUNDREDS of students turned out to pay their respects to Nahid Al-Manea.
Essex University’s Islamic Society hosted the condolences service at the Wivenhoe Campus at 2.10pm today.
A number of speakers paid tribute to the student, who was murdered on a footpath in Greenstead on Tuesday morning, and prayers were read from the Koran.
Speaking after the service vice chancellor Anthony Forster said: “The news is devastating.
“We are a really close knit family university.
“We’re here today to stand together as one global family.
“I’m incredibly proud of the fact we’ve come together in this way.”
