A SCHOOL which will close this summer is holding its last fete - and hopes it will be the best ever.

A fete and reunion will be held at Alderman Blaxill School in Colchester on July 10, less than two weeks before the school will shut for good.

However, organisers plan to make the event a celebration of the school and have lined up a host of entertainment.

Former head of PE Dave Hinchcliffe, who is organising the event, hopes pupils, parents and staff past and present will all attend.

He said: "We are also trying to make it a reunion.

"We will have guided tours of the school. It might be the last time people can look round it and it is sure to provide some nostalgic memories."

Attractions will include a bunge run, velcro Olympics, gladiator duels, primary goal shoot out as well as traditional games and stalls.

The community fete will run from 6pm to 8.30pm.

The school is looking for old pictures and memories to form part of an exhibition. Anyone who can help is asked to email celebration@blaxill.net.
