POLICE are appealing for information after a number of items were stolen from a house in Old Heath Road, Colchester.

The burglary happened sometime between 10.30pm on Thursday, June 12 and 6.50am on Friday, June 13.

A Nintendo Wii, a Call of Duty game, a Toshiba laptop, a digital camera, a DAB radio, two mobile phones, a purse and assorted bank cards were taken.

Investigating officer, Pc Bryan Heath, of Colchester CID, said: "The victims went to bed at around 9.30pm. About an hour later they heard a noise come from their back gate. They looked out of the window and saw a man walking out of the back garden, most likely in the direction of Whitehall Close. The victim went downstairs and found the side gate had also been opened. At that time nothing had been stolen or looked out of place. However, when he went downstairs at 6.50am he found the living room window open and that property had been stolen. We believe the window may not have been open earlier that night so the suspect or suspects may have returned to carry out the burglary.”

Anyone with information or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious is urged to contact Pc Heath at Colchester CID on Essex Police 101. They can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
