HUNDREDS of pounds damage has been caused to a school swimming pool.

Police are appealing for information after two bearded men broke into the St Mary's School pool, Lexden Road, Colchester.

The break-in happened in the early hours of Sunday, May 18.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "They removed the outdoor swimming pool cover by ripping it back, which has caused £600 worth of damage.

"After swimming in the pool they have left."

Both are white and aged in their mid to late 20s.

One had long dark hair on top, shaven on the sides and a full dark beard and was wearing a white vest with white shirt and dark trousers.

The other man had short dark hair, a short dark beard and was wearing a dark top and trousers.
