  • "Glad that nobody was injured but I do not imagine for one minute that yet another prang on the A12 will stop the majority of motorists driving too fast and too close to each other.
    I see this every day and it will be a matter of time before there is yet another serious injury or worse.
    Either reduce the speed limit during peak periods or enforce the "tailgating" legislation that now exists."

An accident involving five cars blocked a lane on the A12 near Hatfield Peverel just before 7.30am this morning. 

The incident caused queues back to junction 25 at Marks Tey and involved a grey Range Rover, a black Volkswagen Polo, a silver Mercedes, a white Fiat 500 and a yellow Ford Fiesta. 

The road was blocked for around an hour and was cleared by 8.53am. 

Nobody was injured.
