COMMUTERS could cause parking chaos if a new housing estate is built without parking restrictions, councillors have warned.

Outline plans for 150 homes at Dale Hall in Lawford were given the go ahead by Tendring Council’s planning committee last September.

But Lawford Parish Council is concerned workers travelling from Manningtree Station may use the new estate as a free car park.

Chairman Alan Coley told a meeting on Monday: “Considering its close proximity to the railway station it could be used as a car park."

An Essex County Council spokesman said: "If and when the development is built, it is likely the estate road layout would be the subject of a s38 agreement with the County Council and it is at this stage consideration would be given as to what, if any, waiting restrictions should be applied."
