A WOMAN is fighting for her life after a crash in Little Horkesley.

The 34-year-old passenger from Colchester has serious head injuries and is in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the crash in Vinesse Road at about 5pm yesterday.

A silver BMW 325 convertible left the road after the 39-year-old male driver appears to have lost control and struck a tree stump.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene with the road closed for five hours

Paramedics fought to keep her alive before rushing her to Colchester General Hospital.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 5pm and sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer.

"There were two casualties including a woman aged in her thirties.

"She was in a critical condition with crews battling to keep her alive before she was taken to Colchester General Hospital."

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is being questioned at Colchester police station.
