RESIDENTS are being told to expect low-flying military helicopters to continue until later in the week.
Many residents were woken by the sound of Apache Attack helicopters flying above the town in the early hours of this morning.
An Army spokesman confirmed the Apaches, based at RAF Wattisham, are in training before being deployed to Afghanistan and will be flying in the area until Thursday.
He added: “All military low flying is conducted in accordance with the Military Aviation Authority’s UK Low Flying Handbook.
“Every effort is made to minimise disruption to the local community by using open areas and crews are briefed to avoid built-up areas where possible.
“The Attack Helicopter Force has been on continuous operations in Afghanistan since 2006 and to deliver this commitment, we have to conduct demanding training within our local low flying area.”
