The family of a highly-skilled builder left severely disabled by a stroke have received a multi-million pound NHS payment for his round-the-clock care.
Paul Wiggins, 53, of Great Holland, was left gravely disabled after he suffered a brain haemorrhage after an incorrect hospital diagnosis.
The former joiner and builder now needs constant care and is totally dependent on others.
Through his wife Maxine, Mr Wiggins sued the operators of Queen’s Hospital, Romford, where he was being treated.
Yesterday, the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust admitted liability and agreed to pay a lump sum of £1.66million, which will provide suitable accommodation for Mr Wiggins.
